Smith Story Wines: Summer 2021
Starting off this summer with festive "pops of the cork" with so many of you. Our new Smith Story Wine Cellars Brut has received high praise from everyone. We told you so! This gorgeous bottle is available online and will also be among our Fall Storyteller Wine Club offering along with our 2018 Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon release. You can simply join The Storytellers online here to receive benefits immediately.
July is a busy month for us in the Anderson Valley, reservations are filling up! July 10 is our Summer Open House. A causal come and go day of complimentary tastings and door prizes for guests.
Summer shipping…a friendly reminder that heat is no friend of wine. You now have the delivery option to select “UPS Ground Hold for Fall Weather” or Anderson Valley pick-up of course. Our tasting room hours are Thursday-Sunday until harvest begins then Sunday’s will most likely become our family day off again. You can always see our current hours on our VISIT page.
A little secret…a major wine magazine reviewed our 6th release - 2019 Sauvignon Blanc, Sonoma County and gave it 92pts. This is pretty huge in the world of small production white wine. From the very beginning of Smith Story Wines, we sought to be among the very top Sauvignon Blanc producers in California and it’s working out pretty darn well! The issue publishes in a few weeks… stay tuned for the entire write-up soon.
Eric and I continue to focus on all the good news, hoping for a fire-free harvest and that pandemic conditions in NorCal flatten more and more each day. Thank you so much for your heartfelt messages, cards, calls and huge support regarding my recent breast cancer diagnosis. It’s been a tough couple of months, but I’m feeling strong and receiving great care in Sonoma County. I’m mostly bummed that we are unable to plan harvest and travel events for the remaining 2021 due to the uncertainty of my immune system during ongoing treatment. However, 2022 we will PARTY!
I want everyone reading this to know that my stud husband, winemaker Eric Story does indeed have superpowers. 8 years ago when we married on that May rainy day up in the coffee farms of Kona, Hawaii I knew he was my person for life. For better for worse, sickness and in health, richer for poorer. Please keep him in your thoughts to as we cross all our paws for a normal harvest season ahead and as he manages so much of our operations and hospitality this year.
No Guts No Story continues… we are lucky and so grateful to have each of you in our lives!
Peace and Love -
Ali Story
