Springtime at Smith Story Wine Cellars
LOVE LOVED LOVED!!! Thank you to all who visited last weekend, it was a record for us. Many visiting from the Bay Area for day trips and many who took direct flights to the Sonoma County Airport to visit us. The sun is out, wines are chilled, glasses polished and team Smith Story looks forward to hosting in or outdoor these days. This weekend, we're open Thursday-Sunday. Reservations preferred, but certainly stop by to pick up wines and enjoy a tasting with us if you can. Ali and Eric are hosting again this weekend.
The tasting room is closed on Saturday/Sunday April 29/30, we're expecting 400 or so wine connoisseurs participating in the Passport to Dry Creek Valley. The largest event yet since moving from the Anderson Valley to Healdsburg. Only guests with Dry Creek Valley Passports please.
The new 2022 BRAVE Carbonic Red Wine is finally on the bottling line today and moving over to our fulfillment warehouse and tasting room by the weekend. Don't forget to look out Spring Release shipments that included the 2022 BRAVE, tracking numbers will be sent via email after April 24.
What's in our glass this week?
2019 Smith Story Wine Cellars, Helluva Vineyard, Pinot Noir, Anderson Valley $56
VinePair: 92pts: Husband and wife team Eric Story & Alison Smith-Story's...story is so storied it won't fit in a review, so please go to their website and marvel at their traveled wine experience. While you are there, just smash the buy button for this one. From the northern end of Cali's wine-growing zones comes this chewy, quenching, and bright wine with earthy elegance and a good dollop of oak that does not, at all, take away from the grape's inherent character. The mouthfeel is full of fruit and there is a bright lift from its natural acidity. There's a kiss of oak woven into this wine that adds a nice complexity.
Place an order, send a gift before the summer heat makes things a bit spendy for shipping!
